I've been using a superior rune in RA lately... After reading a post on TeamQQ about how Chop Chop (from rawr) apparently used a superior when he was using conjure, because he couldn't do sneaky hits under Spirit Bond with conjure, so he figures the more damage the better.
Stats are:
16 axe
10 water
9 Strength
Good for taking down warriors actually, because you deal lots of elemental damage, usually you can bulls a warrior running up at the start of a game, frenzy, then use coward when he takes of again. It's fun.
|
I don't really like using 2 kds that are both conditional, especially since they require the same condition. You should consider going with shock instead of bull's, then changing conjure lightning (of course).
I think the sword version of the "Coward" bar is a more solid version because Steelfang is hot with it.

Mesmer Healbot
Fast Cast: 10(+2)
Prot: 8
Healing: 12
Inspiration: 9(+1)
Equipment: Shield Set, Offhand Set, 40/40 Cast Time Set
Skills:
Signet of Rejuvenation
Word of Healing (Elite)
Patient Spirit
Protective Spirit
Dismiss Conditon
Cure Hex
Heal Party
Auspicious Incantation
This build can pump a huge number of high powered heals into the party insanely fast. WoH is so fast you can pretty much infuse with it. Patient Spirit really is a just a big spammable heal that you should use when anticipating damage on a party member, it also is great for powering dervishes via mysticism. Signet of Rejuvenation is what I use to top off bars and save me time as I get to them with WoH. Cure Hex and Dismiss are pretty much self explanitory. You want a 40/40 set to switch off to, because you manage energy by casting auspicious incantation and then heal party to net a massive energy return. I run a shield set with this build and rarely get pulled off of it. Because patient spirit is so fast, you can pre-prot yourself with prot spirit and spam patient on yourself to keep yourself alive through spikes and melee pressure.
The cast time on many of these spells makes you pretty hard to interrupt. Even heal party casts in little over 1.10 seconds. However, antispam skills like diversion or signet of humility can still give you problems. Because all of your healing skills are relatively cheap and signet of rejuvenation is free (and casts pretty quick thanks to the fast casting bonus for signets), this build is very energy efficient under pressure.
The downside to this build is a lack of a good block skill. You really need to rely on good kiting to minimize damage, but if you really need it, you can substitute patient spirit for a 5 second guardian. However, this will reduce your healing potential.
Eitherway, having a fast cast WoH is pretty sweet and you will find yourself saving people left and right from near death while still pumping a massive amount of raw HP into the party. On numerous occasions I've been about to out monk Mo/X primaries with this build. It also works in PvE as well.
|
Heh, you are midnight contessa? I was in a same team with you when you were running that skillbar. I have few screenshots too.
I had a cheap 5 energy skills only bar.

This is a build I was testing recently. It focuses on Patient Spirit.
Atributes:
12+1+1 Healing Prayers
9+1 Prot
9+1 Divine
[skill]Patient Spirit[/skill][skill]Dwayna´s Kiss[/skill][skill]Healing Light[/skill][skill]guardian[/skill][skill]dismiss condition[/skill][skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]spotless soul[/skill][skill]contemplation of purity[/skill]
The build is a stub. It heals putting Patient on Teammates and then use D-Kiss and Healing for healing. Spotless is for hex removal of teammates, and CoP is for using a combo with Patient for Hex and Cond Removal with 150 healing points.

Seems like it may be a little too support-dedicated for a place like RA. Sure, if you get a decent monk and 1-2 decent melee then you're almost guaranteed a 10-streak, but the chances of getting both damage and a healer on a team is pretty low and it's usually better (IMO) to take one of those roles.

I've been toying around with this for some time now, and it works great.
Way of the Master+Assassin sins
14 critical strikes, 12 scythe or spear
A/D or A/P (I prefer A/P)
Way of the Assassin
Way of the Master
Critical Eye (optional but recommended)
Scythe or Spear attack skills.
Utility (optional)
Res sig
Survivor Insignia, fill with Vitae runes.
Vampiric, Zealous, Ebon Spears/Scythes of fortitude.
If using spears, then use shields (45/stance).
A Caster set for WotM.
This idea uses the insane critical rates of Critical Strikes + Way of the Assassin/Master + Critical Eye + 12% from weapon mastery, which promise a critical in almost every hit. I prefer to use spears because-
1. cheaper and faster attacks.
2. great synergy with vicious attack.
3. ranged attacks, which give you the range advantage, makes melee hate useless against you, and eliminates the need for speed boosts like dash.
4. Allows you to use shields.
5. Most Scythe attack skills (most notably the newly buffed Pious Assault) cause you to lose an enchantment, which is impossible (you must have an enchantment on you, and your enchantment has a long recharge).
6. Scythe AOE is pretty much useless in RA.
PROS
- very good dps.
- doesn't rely on combos. Can spike, spread pressure, assist an ally's combo with good spike damage (spear of lightning) and deep wound (vicious attack).
- No energy problems due to Critical Strikes. Allows you to have a very good 675 health (with a +30 spear and +45/stance shield).
CONS
- Way of the Master's long recharge. If it gets stripped you're in a problem, because way of the assassin needs an enchantment to work.
- Blind- consider using signet of malice.
Variants
- If you use A/D, you will need a speed boost (dash).
- Signet of Malice to remove conditions like blind (you will cause enough conditions to trigger it).
- Another enchantment to cover WotM- Critical Defenses for a constant high block rate, or Sharpen Daggers for more pressure.
I've been pretty successful with this, comments?

I know people out there hate DBS with a passion, so please don't hurt me! I'm just new to ta and after getting 25 glad points in 5 days in ra with this build I do think it's not complete rubbish It does a good job at shutting people down.
W/E
Counter Blow (Hammer mastery)
Mighty Blow (Hammer mastery)
Hammer Bash (Hammer mastery)
Dwarvern Battle Stance {E} (Strength)
Shock (Air magic)
Rush (Strength)
Bulls strike (Strength)
Res sig (unlinked)
Strength 12
Hammer mastery 13 (12 + 1)
Air Magic 3
Usage: run up to caster of choice...
shock -> dbs for 9 seconds by which time the adrel skills are charged -> Counter Blow or Shock (depending on if they are attacking) -> Mighty Blow while they're down -> Hammer Bash to put them down again -> Rush+Bulls if kiting -> then DBS will be ready again if they're not dead!
Please be nice!

Interesting use of gole, but the mo/a return ZB build really works better for kiting.

Guiding Hands isn't that good on that bar, since pious strips it as Attacker's Insight ends before the effect (of pious). But still unblockable Chilling Victory ftw? I'd take d-dagger. Spike is quite good though ~80% off full hp, works well if you have another semi-decent damage dealer.

He's not saying that; the GWBcode of Guru is just a bit outdated : attacker's insight actually reduces the cost of the next 1...3 attack skills (normally 2 skills with 4 wind prayers), so you have to use pious as your second skill. But even then attacker's insight ends before the strip of pious. So any other enchantment you might have covered beneath attacker's insight will be stripped by pious.

I hope this thread is never locked, there's simply too many laughs to be had.
EDIT: And, to make this post more useful, here's an SoD bar I've ran the past couple months (the current final version anyway):
14 Prot, 11 Heal, 9 Divine
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Shield of Deflection[/skill][skill]Dwayna's Kiss[/skill][skill]Dismiss Condition[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill]
Looks utterly fail, right?
Healing Breeze in the new form is actually more efficient than Gift, over time. When you have SoD to totally shut down most physical characters, and Guardian on top if it to cover other people when the non-fail players target swap, the slow effect of Breeze works. Plus, you really need the self-heal. I had another prot spell in here initially (the original idea of the build was - "How far will Healing Breeze go if I just prot the shit out of everything") but found that I needed more healing to counter pressure. Dwayna's Kiss has ended up being pretty great. With the enchantments I'm using + the hex clause, it accomplished what I was looking for.
The build fails against heavy enchantment removal but I like it for RA. No single Monk can counter every threat. Being able to throw up SoD + Breeze and /dance for half of the match is pretty entertaining.

this actually looks pretty sweet, will try it tonight.
been playing a WoH Mo/A with return and dark escape, hardly original but the build is win and such fun, return is such a hilarious skill:
[skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Word of Healing[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Holy Veil[/skill][skill]Dark Escape[/skill][skill]Return[/skill]
WoH is just so efficient now that it means you can pack 2 self defense skills, return is just godly and dark escape helps counter KDs and helps you kite away when dazed too.
not going to get into the whole PS / SB debate, i prefer PS here because i can use it as a cover for veil, which helps a lot versus decent mesmers.
maybe dismiss would be better instead of MC & MT, to take maybe purge sig?
